As Chinese families increasingly pursue a refined lifestyle, the kitchen has evolved from a traditional cooking space into a central hub for social interaction and lifestyle expression, reflecting the evolution of Chinese culinary culture. As a high-end custom kitchen and bathroom brand incubated by RARA—a subsidiary of Zebra Smart Home—yetta cucine was co-created by RARA Custom Home Systems and renowned international designer Liang Zhitian. Specializing in the “social kitchen” concept, the brand is dedicated to blending functional aesthetics with interactive experiences.

At the Yetta Cucine Shanghai Art Showroom, light is no longer a serendipitous gift of nature, but rather a design language we have meticulously crafted. Located within a shopping mall, the space is largely shielded from natural light, making artificial lighting the sole source of illumination. It is precisely this pure creative environment that allows us to take our “philosophy of light subtraction” to its extreme: completely eliminating all unnecessary lighting and retaining only the most essential, core light sources, ensuring that every beam of light possesses its own irreplaceable significance. This is not a constraint, but rather creative freedom.
Kengo Kuma once said, “There are no clear boundaries, only fluid relationships.” Lead designer Yuan Zonglei, guided by the design philosophy of “Crossing Boundaries, Blending Boundaries, and Transcending Boundaries,” has transformed the exhibition hall into a unique space that embodies infinite possibilities for life. And we, using light as our brush, have written the gentlest footnote to this profound concept—where boundaries are crossed, light serves as a precise translator, allowing design languages from different fields to resonate harmoniously on the same wavelength; where boundaries are fused, light acts as an invisible solvent, dissolving the inherent boundaries of space within the shifting play of light and shadow; where there are no boundaries, light serves as a passage of freedom, allowing imagination to flow unimpeded between function, art, and life.

LIGHT AS A TRANSLATOR
At the entrance to the showroom, a burst of fiery red immediately captures the viewer’s attention. The red cabinets suspended from the wall break the silence of the space like sculptures. Subtle, minimalist lighting perfectly highlights the elegance and artistic flair of the entrance. The Italian phrase “Trasforma la cucina in un museo” (Transform the kitchen into a museum), engraved on the wall, emerges clearly under the gentle caress of the light. Unlike other showrooms that rely solely on high-intensity lighting to attract customers, we chose to let the light take a graceful step back. Here, light serves as an exceptional interpreter—translating the artistic essence of “sculpture” into the functionality of “cabinets,” and conveying the profound meaning of the “manifesto” to the entire “space,” allowing every visitor to grasp its deeper significance.

LIGHT AS A SOLVENT
Upon entering the EASE series exhibition area, the open-concept island naturally becomes the social hub of the space, gently illuminated by lights embedded at the base of the wall cabinets. The natural veining of the marble, the warm luster of the glass, and the cool, crisp texture of the metal intertwine and complement one another within the carefully designed play of light and shadow.

The mesh curtain installation suspended above the MODA exhibition area resembles flowing clouds; illuminated by light, it reveals a delicate texture, lending the entire space a clean and airy feel. Against a backdrop of hand-painted graffiti walls, free-flowing lines meet sleek, modern cabinets in a clever fusion. The carefully designed lighting not only perfectly highlights the exceptional texture of the marble and glossy lacquer cabinetry, fully showcasing the inherent beauty of the materials, but also effectively minimizes visual distractions caused by surface reflections.

The HEAVEN series exhibition area centers around a light gray stone slab island. Fiber art installations hang from the walls, their soft forms creating a striking yet harmonious dialogue with the cool, crisp texture of the stone. Lighting, like gentle brushstrokes, softly illuminates the space, causing every strand of fiber to glow with a soft radiance—a glow as hazy as morning mist and as light as a cloud. The coolness of the stone slabs and the warmth of the fibers engage in a profound dialogue through the medium of light, yet achieve perfect harmony through the unifying quality of the light itself. At this moment, the origin of the light no longer matters. Light has become the conduit connecting the hard and the soft, the cold and the warm, art and perception.

Further into the showroom, the FUGA series exhibition area stands as the ultimate expression of the “boundless” concept. An entire wall of mirrored cabinets stretches along the wall, blending almost seamlessly into the space. A soft glow gently diffuses in front of the mirrors, transforming them from cold, impersonal reflectors into warm, inviting image-capturers—reflecting the pure, flawless white of the cabinets, the warm texture of the wood veneer countertops, and the soft glow of the artistic lamps. The glow from the artistic pendant lights diffuses in layers throughout the space, where real light sources intertwine with mirrored reflections, skillfully blurring the boundary between reality and reflection.

The YettaCucine Shanghai Art Showroom is undoubtedly a feast for the senses. From the ingenious spatial layout to the meticulous craftsmanship of the cabinet displays, from the division of functional zones to the refinement of every detail, every corner embodies the profound design philosophy of “crossing boundaries, blending boundaries, and transcending boundaries.” Lighting, meanwhile, serves as the invisible curator of this feast, quietly guiding the visitor’s experience.
The purity of light we pursue mirrors Yetta’s relentless pursuit of the ultimate in craftsmanship. Details determine the future; every light fixture is precisely integrated into the architectural structure—whether concealed in the ceiling, hidden within the walls, or seamlessly blended into the details. The placement of the fixtures, the range of the light beams, and the intensity of the illumination have all undergone repeated deliberation and meticulous on-site calibration. You may not see their specific forms, yet you can truly feel their presence: light spreads evenly, falls softly, and flows quietly, breathing life into the space.
